Short Brief

AYAME is a new MPLS imprementation, devised by the discussion among AYAME core members, about the base construction of the next generation Internet. AYAME uses NetBSD as the development plathome, and is intended to answer the requirement to manage the network environment both for research and for actual operation at the same time.

This imprementation adopts the module based structure, which is one of the biggest characteristics of AYAME, because it is quite important for the good network management to keep the suite extensible.

History of AYAME

1999/10:
Start the AYAME project

1999/10-2000/3:
Design and experimental implimentation of MPLS environment(AYAME)

2000/7
Presentation at the INET2000

2000/10:
Experimental test at the WIDE project network (more than 200 people use the network)

2001/3:
2nd experimental test at WIDE project network, to study a fine-grained dynamic QoS control

2001/7-2002/2:
Adopted to one of the "Mito fund for software research" projects (detail in japanese) by the Information-technology Promotion Agency, JAPAN(IPA)

2001/9-:
Join the Distributed-IX technology project(DISTIX)

2002/3:
